Cavity Free Kids!
It’s never too early to instill good oral health habits. That’s why we at North Creek Dental Care strive to help children feel comfortable at our office. Our goal is to have your kids actually look forward to their dental visit.
Why not make your visit a Family Affair? You may be confident that your child will experience, not only the latest and greatest in children’s dentistry, but that his or her care will be delivered compassionately and gently. We derive great personal satisfaction from encouraging our youngest patients to understand and care about their own dental and overall health and enjoy helping learn the habits that will help keep their teeth healthy for a lifetime.
We look forward to meeting your children as early as one year of age, and helping them embark on a lifetime journey of optimal oral and overall health!
Our practice is part of a Movement that is committed to helping raise a generation of
Americans with only positive thoughts and feelings about dental care in general. Our growing ranks of orally healthy children suggests that we are honoring that commitment.
One secret to our success is the relaxed and happy atmosphere we’ve created in which not only children, but adults too are happy to visit. Whether you are an apprehensive senior citizen, a scared three-year-old, or all points in between, we think you’ll find a visit to our office a refreshing change of pace.
Choosing Your Child’s Dentist – It’s as important as choosing their Pediatrician
A future that includes a lifetime of optimal oral health requires early exposure to a positive dental environment. Good oral health habits are best instilled in a supportive, comfortable, and fun environment, and that’s just what you may expect at North Creek Dental Care.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises that the road to a lifetime of optimal oral health begins with your child’s first visit to the dentist, and that that first visit should occur before their first birthday. Your child’s teeth are susceptible to dental decay at an early age, which is why a visit while they are still young is so important.
Children need help with proper brushing technique, which is why it is so important for you to be closely involved with your child’s dental care regimen. Doing so will help ensure your child’s teeth are kept clean. More important, your kids will learn good oral habits that will last a lifetime. Young children tend to eat throughout the day. This grazing behavior can mean prolonged exposure to acids that are responsible for development of dental decay, which in turn leads to caries.
Without regular brushing, teeth are exposed to cavity forming acids. Fortunately, early recognition of poor diet and oral habits, coupled with regular application of fluoride varnish, which serves to re-mineralize tooth enamel, can significantly decrease the likelihood that your children will suffer from childhood caries.
Banish Childhood Tooth Decay – the Easy Way!
Tooth brushing is likely not your child’s favorite activity. Because of this, the job they do may be less than perfect. Of course, proper brushing technique is important for adults too. Yet, even meticulous brushing may not reach deep grooves in posterior (back) teeth. The resultant build up in bacteria and acids can lead to plaque formation, which in turn leads to decay. Once a tooth has decay, the damage is permanent, requiring some form of treatment such as a crown or filling.
Seal(ant) of Approval
Fortunately, there is a proven way to help prevent decay from ever forming in the first place, and that way is Dental Sealants! The process is simple:
- First the teeth are cleaned and sterilized.
- Next, a thin, white or colorless coating is applied.
- And finally, a curing light is then used to bond the sealant into place.
The entire process is completed in only a few minutes. No shots or drilling is necessary. No natural tooth structure is removed. It’s also totally painless!
Dental sealants are one of the best treatments for helping children and adolescents preserve natural tooth structure!
